Privacy at Home Price Check
The tester is designed to work without an account. It does not upload your viewing notes or use them to profile you.
What happens when you use the checker
Your browser sends the postcode directly to HM Land Registry so it can return Price Paid Data. HM Land Registry receives the postcode and normal connection information. Home Price Check does not receive a copy of your viewing notes.
The postcode, property type, asking price and a small result summary may be saved in browser session storage. Viewing answers and notes are saved in local storage so they can still be there when you return on the same browser and device.
Who else handles information
Cloudflare hosts the tester and may process normal technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, request time, browser details and security logs. Its handling and retention of that information are governed by Cloudflare’s service and privacy arrangements.
HM Land Registry operates the Price Paid Data service used by the checker. When your browser requests results, its service receives the request independently of Home Price Check.
Your choices
- Clear this site’s browser storage to remove saved checks, answers and notes.
- Use private browsing if you do not want the browser to retain them, although private-browsing behaviour varies.
- Avoid entering sensitive personal information into viewing notes, especially on a shared device.
Cookies and similar storage
Home Price Check does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. It uses browser session and local storage for the check and viewing companion described above. If tracking or optional cookies are introduced, this notice and the site’s consent controls will need to change first.

Before a wider launch
Draft status: this is a plain-English tester summary, not yet a complete privacy notice. Before wider promotion it still needs the operator’s identity, the applicable lawful basis and user rights, a clear complaint route, and verified retention details for technical hosting data.
The Information Commissioner’s Office explains the information a privacy notice should contain and how people can raise a concern. Read the ICO guidance.
